Food!!

Hello, how are you today??...

The theme of today is local recipes!!
We invite you to send the most common recipy of your city or country. The idea is that you show us the major possible number of ingredients (to everybody can know more vocabulary) and use the verbs in a correct form. Don`t forget that to describe a recipe you have to use the verbs in imperative.

We will show you our recipe as an example:

* Coconut and Tropical Fruit Dessert:

This can also be made with other fruits, just make sure they are not too moist. I have also made this with dried blueberries, cranberries, and cherries with tasty results.

2-1/2 cups lite soy milk.
2 14-ounce cans lite coconut milk.
1-1/2 cups cornstarch.
1 cup sugar, or more to taste.
1/2 cup grated fresh or dried coconut.
1/2 cup finely chopped fresh papaya.
1/2 cup finely chopped fresh mango.
1/2 cup finely chopped fresh or canned pineapple.
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts.

1.- In a large saucepan, combine soy milk, coconut milk, cornstarch, and sugar. Whisk well until cornstarch is completely dissolved. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wire whisk, until mixture boils and thickens. Remove from heat.

2.- Add coconut, papaya, mango, pineapple, and walnuts. Mix well. Spoon mixture into an 11 x 13-inch glass dish and smooth top with a spatula. Cool slightly, uncovered, on counter, then cover and refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours. Cut into squares and serve cold.

Have a good time!!

SOPAIPILLAS!!!

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup mashed squash of your choice, but bright orange is best
3 tablespoons shortening
Salt to taste
Flour to make a dough
Additonal shortening for frying

PREPARATION:
To the hot mashed squash, add the shortening and let it melt. Add salt to taste, then mix in enough flour to make a dough that doesn't stick.
Roll the dough until quite thin, then cut in rounds. Poke 2 or 3 holes in each round and then deep fry. Serve with powdered sugar or with "Miel de Chancaca."

Miel de Chancaca is made by boiling 1 cup of chancaca, a hard crude sugar resembling molasses when melted, with 1 cup sigar, 2 cups of water, a large piece of lemon peel pierced with a piece of cinnamon stick and a vanilla bean. Boil down until thick or thicken with 1 tablespoon cornstarch.

chicken noodle soup!!!!

is a comfort food suitable for any time of the year, but especially during cold winter months and when you are ill.
INGREDIENTS:
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
2 medium onions, chopped
3 medium carrots, cut into 1/4-inch rounds
3 celery ribs, cut into 1/4-inch thick slices
1 (6- to 7-pound) chicken
2 quarts chicken broth or canned low-sodium broth
1 quart cold water, or as needed
4 sprigs of fresh parsley
3 sprigs of fresh thyme or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 bay leaf
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 cups egg noodles
Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

PREPARATION:
Heat the oil in a brothpot over medium heat. Add the onions, carrots, and celery and cook, stirring often, until softened, about 10 minutes.

Cut the chicken into 8 pieces.

Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside until cool enough to handle. Remove and discard the parsley and thyme sprigs and bay leaf. Let stand 5 minutes and degrease the soup, reserving the fat if you are making matzo balls.

Discard the chicken skin and bones and cut the meat into bite-size pieces. Add the noodles and cook until done, about 10 minutes. Stir the meat back into the soup and season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve hot. (The soup can be prepared up to 3 days ahead, cooled, covered, and refrigerated, or frozen for up to 3 months.)

Yield: 12 to 14 servings

PAELLA!!!!!!!

INGREDIENTS:

1/3 cup of Olive Oil
1 Small Onion, minced
2-3 cloves of garlic, crushed
3-5 tbsps minced fresh parsley
1 generous pinch of saffron
2 tbsps of chicken bullion
3 skinless Chicken Breasts, cut in large chunks
2 green peppers, sliced
1 red pepper, sliced
1 tsp of yellow food coloring (optional -- saffron is very expensive, a pinch
of it is all you need for taste but a richer color is desired)
8 oz tomatoe sauce
1 tsp sugar
4 cups of rice
7 cups of water
salt
1/2 lb - 1 lb shrimp, leave shell on
1 lb scallops

Saute onion, parsley, and garlic in olive oil until the onion begins to become transparent. Add saffron, chicken bullion, chicken, peppers and saute until chicken has become white. Add tomatoe sauce, sugar, food coloring. Stir. Add rice & water and bring to boil. Salt to taste. Boil 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add shrimp & scallops, boil an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Simmer 10 minutes covered, stirring occasionally. If the rice appears to be getting too dry during the last 10 minutes, add more water. If the rice is too wet at the end of the 10 minutes, uncover and evaporate unwanted liquid.
